Its no secret that when it comes to racing cars that more is (mostly) better. Whether its wins, traction, tire sets, etc., having more is far from a bad thing. Sometimes, however, less can be more. Racing with half the traction and half the wheels are just some of the ways that motorcycle racing is overtaking the competition by being some of the most exciting racing you can find.
Racing is not a safe sport. Sure, its much safer than what it used to be, but pushing a massive heavy hunk of metal and carbon fiber at high speeds with, in the simplest of definitions, a constantly exploding bomb powering the whole machine is far from a safe line of work. Racing takes discipline, guts, and above all else, a hint of crazy. Racing motorcycles takes the discipline and guts and mixes that with a whole lot of crazy. There’s no cage between the rider, the engine, and the track below, nonetheless the riders sharing the corner, inches away. Their wellbeing is on the line just as much as the title. The best part about all of this? Its right in your backyard with MotoAmerica.
Outside Line Media attended the 2025 MotoAmerica Superbikes at Mid Ohio race on August 15-17th. For some of us here, this is a favorite race to attend on the Mid Ohio calendar and this year was no different. The MotoAmerica weekend experience is incredibly unique compared to any other race weekend you can attend. Even more so if you are a motorcycle rider yourself. The atmosphere at the track is unmatched for the friendliness and passion that goes into motorcycles and racing. It’s heaven for fans of racing and good vibes. It’s also a great place to bring the family for a weekend of outdoor fun.
MotoAmerica lets you get up close and personal with the action at the track. With an open paddock, you are able to explore the chaos that makes up a race weekend and the drama in the garages
Whether you camped or traveled back and forth to the track, the weekend had more than enough fun for everyone in the family. There was never a dull moment on track throughout the weekend and combined with the fantastic general admission viewing areas, you’d have found it difficult to miss the trackside action. Even in the vendor area, they had a globe of death and a screen displaying the broadcast. The kids zone had large inflatables, games, and other exciting entertainment all for free. With kids 12 and under getting into the track free (with a adult), it meant some big savings as well as a guaranteed good time with the family.

Attendees would also have found that the food and merchandise vendors offer a nice variety of ways to fill up on good food and good looks. While not near as many merchandise vendors were at the event compared to when Mid Ohio hosts Indy-Car and other races, that may serve to help rather than harm those with looser wallets. The food vendors at Mid Ohio have always had a great variety. Whether you wanted corndogs and burgers or even hibachi, you could have found it there. With breakfast being served as some vendors too, you could have eaten somewhere different for every meal of the day.
While its fantastic for the family, not everything has to be. For the motorcycle riders in the family, multiple manufacturers had demo rides set up. Yamaha, CF Moto, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi ran free guided test rides that you could sign up and try out your next bike or something new. Indian and Harley-Davidson hosted free self guided test rides that were a fantastic experience for anyone curious about both historical American brands. All the manufacturers had fantastic 20 to 30 minute routes that truly let you experience a bike on shaded twisty roads and long country straights. If its something you can do, its an unmissable part of the weekend and highly recommended by us here at Outside Line Media.
One of the coolest experiences that you could have done at Mid-Ohio was actually get on track. Yes, you read that right. There were a few different parade laps that were available to special ticket holders that let you take your personal bike onto the track. While not a hot lap by any means, it is a good time. But what if that isn’t enough for you. What if you are are someone that doesn’t want just the chance to be on track, but the prestige of lapping the track. Luckily for that person, there is a way to do just that! The girlfriend of one of the members actually did it. The Dunlop ECSTAR Suzuki Two-Seat Superbike Experience is your chance to experience a hot lap on the back of a racebike. All it requires is a donation to the Roadracing World Action Fund, a non-profit that looks to improve track safety with soft air barriers. In return for your donation, you get the chance to ride on a real race spec superbike. The Dunlop M4 Suzuki race bike piloted by retired racer Chris Ulrich is the closest you can get to the real deal. With reaching 150mph and lean angles that can only be achieved on a bike like this, this is the ultimate experience for fans of MotoAmerica.

This weekend at Mid Ohio was special because it was the last race of the season for the Super Hooligan class where we went into the race weekend with James Rispoli, Cory West, and Jake Lewis all fighting for a championship win. Check out our article here that talked about it more.
